A Great DIY House Warming Gift

Here's a simple and easy-to-make succulent arrangement that is sure to grow...

My goddaughter and her husband recently had their house blessing in Lancaster. I wanted to give them something that I can personally make, that is adorable, and that will keep growing. When I searched for possible DIY house warming gifts, a live succulent arrangement was a top result.

Since I don't have a green thumb and all that I have in the backyard are barely surviving pots of various succulents, I went ahead and started cutting seven varieties that seemed to have good plump leaves. Then I went into the garage to find any container that still looks good and could serve as a planter.

I did find a white square bowl that I have used as a fruit serving bowl in its prior life, a few feet of leftover burlap ribbon, and some potting soil in the backyard. This gift did not cost me a dime, plus, who knew that these small pieces of cuttings in a simple white bowl can bring joy!

Here are the names and photos of the seven varieties in this succulent arrangement.

Graptoveria Fred Ives

Sedum morganianum or Donkey Tail

Sedum lucidum or stonecrop

Crassula ovata, commonly known as jade plant, lucky plant, money plant or money tree

Aeonium Haworthii or Pinwheet

Variegated Pinwheel - Aeonium Harwothii Variegata

Echeveria Pulvinate or plush plant

When I saw her reaction as we walked in the door, it felt like I was giving her a priceless gem. I am so happy for her on her new milestone as a homeowner and even happier that she knows how to appreciate a labor of love. I look forward to seeing this succulent arrangement grow and multiply in their home.
