While working in the kitchen, I wanted to refinish the breakfast nook furniture and visualized how to use one of the two large mirrors that was brought from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and then to San Antonio! While it would’ve also been nice to have linens and a large centerpiece, with a baby in the house, they’ll just have to wait. Simple white dishes with placemats will do for now.

I had initially imagined a bright and welcoming feel of a farmhouse, but as it turned out, although I was given a freehand to buy at thrift shops, I couldn’t do DIY repurposing because my kids loved the items I thrifted standalone. So for the front door and entryway, and before Andi got to San Antonio, I created this three ring wreath which will be the only handmade and farmhouse item in this home restyling.

The items purchased for different purposes turned up being used as it was originally made for, i.e., a picture frame that could have been a coffee table vignette tray, kept its purpose and became a frame for the elephant postcard that I kept for this home restyling project. The postcard frame was going to be for the bathroom but ended up in their entryway with a key rack.

THE BATHROOM
This is where the pair to the dining room mirror ended up. I cannot show you what the bathroom looked like because in my dismay, I forgot to take photos, but take my word when I say it was was so very unpresentable when we arrived. As soon as I entered, I stepped back and immediately grabbed the bleach spray to soak the whole area from the walls, counters, toilet and lastly to the floor.
When I took a shower in the morning, I rinsed all the bleach and then thoroughly cleaned it with the vinegar, baking soda, and Dawn solution. The room that I thought would have the least work, ended up being the most difficult. Here are the ideas that I pinned on my board for what I envisioned the bathroom restyling to be.

The success story in this bathroom is the mirror. Remember the pair of mirrors that I bought at a hotel liquidation in Las Vegas for my house in Los Angeles? One was hung in the breakfast nook and this other piece ended up here in the bathroom to replace the old chipped builders mirror which was too small for the vanity. When the pair of mirrors was brought into the house, I knew that it would be the piece that brought the elegance this tiny house needed.

A few other things that I have done in the bathroom were:
Instead of hanging the shower curtain just on top of the shower wall, I raised it 8” higher to give the illusion of a higher ceiling.
A simple towel rack from BigLots was also hung on the wall. (The old towel rack will be removed

From Texas Thrift, I picked up this wire basket for $2.98, painted it black and used it to hold extra toilet paper on top of the tank.

The interior of the cabinet was lined with contact paper for sanitary reasons.
Using a couple of white plastic baskets that were purchased from the Dollar Tree, I organized their toiletries on the bottom shelf and extra supplies on the top shelf along with more toilet paper rolls.
In the middle shelf, extra towels were rolled up to make it look pretty. (more after they have fully unpacked)

For something that was so disgusting at the start, I couldn’t explain the feeling of fulfillment when it was finally completed.

On $15 in expenses but a lot of muscle work made this bathroom aesthetically pleasing.
